The Music on his unique disc was recorded by the Capitol Showband back in the early 1960s. Many of the tracks were recorded "live" and were also never used commercially. Des Kelly, band leader , and founder member of the Capitol, feels that it [is] only right that people who danced to the band and especially those who were not around during the Showband era, should hear what a Showband in action was really like.
Most of these recordings were made at dances in the Crystal Ballroom, South Anne St, Dublin for the bands regular Radio Luxembourg show and have not been doctored or enhance[d] in any way, thus capturing that "Special Sound" which made the band famous.
These recordings were made before 1965 and each member of the band was a star in his own right. All the excitement and enjoyment of a "live" performance is captured on this recording, including the special atmosphere which made the Capitol one of Ireland's leading showbands. It is a fitting tribute to their extraordinary musical ability, expertly introduced by bandleader Des Kelly. Sit back and enjoy the great sound of "The Capitol Showband." (From liner notes)
